JEREMY ENGEL, M.D. - CLINICAL ADVISOR - practices family medicine in Northern Kentucky. He started working on solving the heroin epidemic in 2012.
PAUL KOMAREK - PROJECT DIRECTOR. From 1978 to 1986, while Ohio was closing its mental health institutions, Paul Komarek was working for Social Security. He interviewed some 20,000 benefit claimants and observed how service systems impact people. Since then, Komarek has built a career helping service organizations start programs that address tough social problems. He has a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from American University and a J.D. cum laude from Northern Kentucky University. His first book Defying Mental Illness was named a “Top 20 Book for Parents and Teachers” by Special Needs Book Review. His latest book is SHARP Stop Heroin and Rescue People. He started working on solving the heroin epidemic in 2013.
